Default Pre-searing expansion (Sane-ish ones)

Ok, I'm a big fan of pre searing and I know there are others that are too. I always liked how you could find something in post that used to be really cool in pre, mainly landmarks.

Now I know pre is only meant to be a newbie training area and I'm not into changing that, but In my opinion it wouldn't hurt to extrend the map to a bigger chunk of pre ascalon for the soul purpose of exploring, would it?

Areas such as serenity temple, the eastern frontier and ect. maybe a little more of ascalon we've never seen. I wouldn't mind if all these areas have are level 1's; I simply think it would be cool to be able to compare more of the pre map and areas to post. And it wouldn't affect the game on a whole since you would get little appart from new things to see. It puts you into the game more, since you would see more of what the charr have done to ascalon, which gives you a better connection to the storyline because you feel what the ascalonians feel. You know?

Anyone else think that would be cool?

Doesn't seem likely at all.

It would be cool, but I doubt they have the time or incentive to go back and mess around with pre-sear.

It's a tutorial area. What company have you heard of that expands on the smaller spectrum of game play? However, because such a strong community has formed around this small patch of Guild Wars, I wouldn't be surprised if ArenaNet added large chunks of similar content in the sequel to come.

Since GW2 will take place 200 years from GW, perhaps we'll be exploring the sun-streaked, wilderness overrun beauty of Ascalon and the kingdom it once was.

Seeing how time travel is popular in pop-fiction, I propose we have an expansion where we go back and prevent the searing from happening. Then gwen would grow up normally and marry our PC when she gets old enough.

if anyone doesnt remember, for those who used enough money online, the mission packs will have one that shows gwen trying to get out... or something... I think we'll have another mission where ascalon still looks like pre-sear a bit.

Awesome. I'm looking forward to that!

And I know it's a tutorial area, but they added charr bags and more to pre for perma pre characters, so I guess I thought it was worth a shot =P

I haven't completed the crystal desert yet, getting there slowly but surely though

Anything would be cool.

But being able to get there for Post-Searing characters would be even better.
They could have an 'anti-paradox' environent effect on, while being there:
- Newbie armor appearance.
- All non-presearing skills unlocked.
- Armor set as the max armor available in presearing
- etc...

For now, there is already one Outposts that could be 'easily' added:
- Piken Square.
The area is still there. There aren't any monsters there anytime.

The problem with adding content to pre-searing is that all the post searing characters are unable to access it. What fraction of GW players have perma-pre characters ?

/unsigned unless post-searing characters can access it. Give them access and I won't care either way.

that would be a bit odd though, seeing as they would be level 20, and ect. What about items? Weapons? Titles?

Post has enough. Pre is small for those who play it activley. aNet realises they are dedicated to playing pre and do enjoy it, and because of this they added the charr bags, and the charr salvage kits to pre, along witht he LDoA title for them. the map there is very enjoyable, however it would just be nice if there was more to explore and possibly learn from. Like, quests with small rewards that teach new plays other key skills. (Not actual profession skills, but knowledge that can be applied to help you in situations to come)

Personally I wouldn't be in need of these things, I simply wish to see more of pre searing's landscape and then later on compare it to post searing. I think it involves you more, and makes your gaming experience on the whole bigger from the start.

The only content it would be is a slightly larger map. Post can't access the Pre-only title, charr bags (Unless bought outside pre) and the charr kits serve little purpose to post characters anyway.

If you have a post prophecies character, then you can access the new content by making a pre character to explore the small new section of the pre map, lol.

I know some people might not have the available character slots, but most people have extra slots for making and remaking PvP characters, so making a temp char to explore isn't a problem. either way there's always the option to go buy some more character slots, if you're short then you clearly need one or two. If you have the max ammount of character slots all in use and can't access pre at all, then clearly a life is needed, lol. Not our fault.

Post has sooo much, I don't really think people in post will feel like they've been hard done by simple because pre has a new explorable area or two with level 1's and little else.

/notsigned unless post-searing toons can access it

It wouldn't be as hard as you think. There could be something similar to the Scrying Pool in the Eye of The North. You click on it and you're transported to the past. When you arrive it says "You're about to relive past events as they occured before you entered Ascalon Academy(for Tyrian-born toons) or prior to your arrival(for non-Tyrian toons)". I'd like the map to extend all the way to the edge of the Shiverpeaks so we can go to Nolani and Grendich Courthouse. Because its the past you wouldn't have access to storage or your guild hall and trade with Pre toons would be disabled.

Good ideas, but to me it seems a little petty to moan about not being able to access something with a character that will gain nothing from it. It's like begging for a food you don't even like. You just want it because everyone else does, lol.

It would be nice if they could use the Scrying pool to go there and I'm sure there would be setting in place not allowing anything to ruin pre, but you could go and do the same thing on a new character. There would be stuff like more guild advertising in pre and the level 20's could just team up with a low level to help them get the title or farm charr bags/kits not to mention runes. A whole new world of exploits because some people wanted something that doesn't actually do anything for them?

Seems a bit more trouble than making a pre chararacter to go see it. which would be easy enough in some areas at least. lol

Ummm...most of what you mentioned already happens in Pre. I advertise my guild on my Pre toon alot, cuz there are loads of eager n00bs who want to join a guild on Pre, and perma pre 20's farm the charr items and sell them to people of much lesser level. I said that trading between pre and post toons would be disabled. Since its the past there'd be no drops for post toons anyway.

It would happen more then. level 20 Perma pre's have earned the right to farm to earn gold. There ways around alot of things, lol.

And I know there is guild advertising, but there would be more.

what interest do you have in bringin a level 20 character to pre anyway? don't they have somewhat more important things to do? lol

I know what you mean. Just the other day, I was vanquishing regent valley, when I saw a statue of Melandru. Me and my vanquishing buddy had a conversation about how awesome statues of Melandru looked, then at how out of place it looked, then suddenly I realised it was the same Statue where I tamed my first pet in pre-searing over two years ago!

While I don't think we'll get an expanded pre-searing, I can imagine that the entire landscape of Guild Wars 2 will be filled with landmarks that we came to know and love in Guild Wars 1. After all, they;ve said they're basing the map on GW1.

that will be good, though I haven't read much on GW2 really. I'm not all that interested in it for the time being, buuut more than likely will be later on.

And yeah, Seeing things like that is sooo cool. first pre character I made was my necro (he's a level 20 MM and SS now), and I did spent a bit of time in pre exploring and such
And I moved to post
And I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw ashford village for what it was. Like, I'd been there a few times after the searing but I didn't really know it was the village until I took a step back. It's just a strange experience but I do enjoy seeing those kinda of things

I like to take picture of my toons in cool places. I had to do a system wipe not long ago and so I lost all my completely horrible but still meaningful pre photos of my 1st toon, Vala Of The Fens, and of my Ranger, Atalanta The Chosen, too. It would be nice to get some pics of Vala in the Catacombs, in the place where you fight the Shatter Gargoyles, and of Atalanta near the statue of Melandru. So for me going back to pre is more about recapturing old memories rather than meddling in the affairs of n00bs.

Your idea of expanding pre has no meaning if post players and even players from different campaigns can't access it. From a business perspective its a horrible idea. Why add content to a part of the game the vast majority of players can't access? People would complain about not being able to access it and ANet would have alot of unhappy customers.

Anyway, aren't the missions in the upcoming mission pack in the past?
